Invisible Water - Phosphate Remover
Invisible Water serves both as a problem solver and a regular maintenance solution. When there is an immediate phosphate issue, it works quickly to resolve the problem. However, when used consistently, it helps maintain phosphate levels, preventing future issues, the frequency of use depends on how much phosphate enters the system. You can think of it more like a supplement that helps keep potential problems at bay, rather than a medication used to treat an existing condition.
The tablet dissolves quickly when exposed to direct water flow. Once dissolved, the active ingredient stays mostly within the filter, gradually reducing phosphate levels based on the concentration in the water. The duration the tablet lasts depends on the phosphate levels; it will continue to work until the active component is fully depleted, with its effectiveness tied directly to the amount of phosphate present in the system.
The process works primarily through a mechanical action, where the active ingredient, lanthanum chloride, interacts with phosphates in the water. This reaction forms lanthanum phosphate, a light floc-like solid. The formed floc is then removed through filtration and is subsequently washed out as waste during the backwashing process. Unlike traditional flocculants, which rely more on chemical bonding and aggregation, this method focuses on the direct physical interaction between the lanthanum chloride and the phosphates.
Each Invisible Water tablet is designed to remove 2,200 ppb (parts per billion) of phosphate.
Whether an additional clarifier is needed to address turbidity depends on the condition of the filtration equipment. If the filtration system is not operating at its best, some cloudiness may occur, but it is usually temporary and much less significant compared to the clouding that can be caused by liquid phosphate removers. Unlike these liquids, which treat phosphates directly in the body of the water, Invisible Water works within the filter itself to manage the issue. Any cloudiness that does occur tends to be short-lived and is further minimized when used alongside Jolly Gel, as recommended on the Invisible Water packaging.
