Record of deaths and injuries caused by defective aquatic equipment
Swimming is an important skill and a healthy activity for adults and children alike. Swimming pools and spas are a tremendous source of enjoyment and fun -but it is not without its hazards.
Where there is fun there can also be danger. Inadequately maintained aquatic facilities: pools, spas, and hot tubs are an internationally recognised cause of fatal and non-fatal injuries.
Damaged water outlets, unprotected pool suction valves and a lack of dual drainage systems can have life threatening consequences including drowning, limb & hair entrapment, evisceration [disembowelment]. Non-fatal drowning injuries can result in severe brain damage and other long term health issues.
